Sautéed Onions

Set-it-and-forget-it recipes are the best kind, and these sautéed onions prove it. Low heat and patience turn a pile of raw onions into sweet, golden magic that upgrades burgers, roasts, and everything in between.

Ingredients
- 10 to 15 large onions
- Oil
- Salt
Instructions
- Slice or chop the onions.
- Place them in a baking pan.
- Add the oil and salt and mix well.
- Cover tightly with foil.
- Bake at 350°F for one hour.
- Lower the oven to 200°F and leave overnight. Make sure there is enough oil before the overnight bake; it is your insurance against burning.
Make a big batch. They keep all week and improve everything they touch.
